Early Life and Education
Vance attended Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009. He then went on to attend Yale Law School, earning his Juris Doctor degree in 2013. Before pursuing a career in law, Vance served in the US Marine Corps from 2003 to 2007, achieving the rank of Corporal and serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Career
Vance worked as a litigator with Sidley Austin from 2014 to 2015 and later at Mithril Capital Management from 2016 to 2017. He joined Revolution LLC as a partner in 2017 and formed Narya Capital in 2019. Vance’s memoir, ‘Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis’, was published in 2016 and adapted into a Netflix movie in 2020.
In 2021, Vance announced his candidacy for the open Ohio Senate seat. He won the election in 2022 and later became the running mate of President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Vance was sworn in as Vice President on January 20, 2025.
