Officials say loud explosions, flashing lights, and unexpected fireworks can trigger anxiety, panic attacks, flashbacks, and emotional distress for some people, including veterans, first responders, and trauma survivors.

The city and county are encouraging residents to use fireworks only on private property with permission, keep them away from dry grass and other flammable materials, and ensure they are handled under adult supervision. Residents are also encouraged to keep water nearby and properly dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water.
