Airport lounges have become overcrowded, prompting airlines to reconsider their travel perks. To address this issue, airlines are now introducing grab-and-go lounge concepts. These new lounges allow travelers to pick up complimentary food and drinks without having to stay in the lounge.
Grab-and-Go Model
The grab-and-go model is designed for speed, simplicity, and convenience. Travel expert Jordi Lippe-McGraw notes that this model is useful for passengers who have tight connections or are running late. United Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Air Lines are among the airlines that have introduced or plan to introduce grab-and-go lounges.
American Airlines’ Provisions by Admirals Club at Charlotte Douglas International Airport is an example of this new concept. The lounge offers grab-and-go food and beverage options, as well as personalized customer support. Access to the lounge follows the same policies as traditional Admirals Club locations.
Lippe-McGraw believes that the grab-and-go model is a smart move for airlines, as it allows them to cut costs while still providing a premium experience for their customers. The model is also less expensive to maintain, with less staffing, no hot kitchens, and a smaller footprint.
