Tour Boat Crew Rescues Dog Swept Out to Sea

A tour boat crew in England rescued a German shepherd dog in an inflatable kayak that authorities said was swept out to sea by strong winds.

The Rescue Effort

The Serenity Farne Island Boat Tours crew heard a Coast Guard call about the dog, and found him floating alone about 2.5 miles off the coast of Farne Island.

The crew began searching for the dog after dropping off their passengers, and eventually spotted the kayak. However, they couldn’t see the dog at first, and feared the worst. But then, the dog’s head appeared inside the kayak, and the crew was able to rescue him after a heart-stopping moment when the dog slipped free from its harness and plunged back into the sea.

The crew brought the dog aboard, wrapping him in a towel to keep him safe and warm as they headed back to shore. On land, the dog was reunited with his owner.
