Six people died in a helicopter collision over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning. The helicopters crashed in the city’s western zone, with one of them hitting a car dealership and igniting a fire that was later extinguished.
American singer and comedian Oliver Tree, 32, was listed as a passenger on one of the helicopters, according to police. However, authorities have not been able to identify the bodies of those killed in the crash.
Tree had performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina on June 4 and posted a video on his Instagram on Saturday, showing him playing soccer in a Brazilian neighborhood.
A witness, Fernandes de Freitas, a tire repair worker, said he saw one of the helicopters in flames after the midair collision and noticed that one of the passengers jumped out of the other aircraft before it hit the ground. “It was terrifying, absolutely horrifying,” De Freitas said.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the collision.
