A suspected shooting and car crash in Indiana’s Washington County left one person dead on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 8000 block of South Big Springs Road, about nine miles south of Salem.

Investigation Underway

Emergency crews responded to an automated car crash alert and found the victim deceased at the scene. The Indiana State Police (ISP) were called to assist the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, and ISP detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.

Officials said the investigation is still in its early stages, and detectives are working to identify and interview everyone involved. The victim’s identity has not been released, and no information indicates an ongoing threat to the public.
