Ciao Bella Collective, a women-owned brand based in San Diego, has launched the Hair Halo, a plastic-free hair tie engineered from upcycled pineapple leaf fiber. The Hair Halo is designed to provide a stronger, creaseless hold while avoiding the synthetic materials found in traditional hair ties.
A Sustainable Alternative
The average woman ties her hair 40 to 60 thousand times in a lifetime, and for 60 years, nearly every one of those loops has been made from petroleum-derived synthetics. Ciao Bella set out to rebuild the most-touched object in the bathroom drawer from something better. The Hair Halo is the result, backed by a 45-source peer-reviewed literature synthesis.
The Hair Halo is built from pineapple leaf fiber, known as PALF, which is the strongest and most cellulose-rich of the major plant leaf fibers. This sustainable material is biodegradable and gentle on hair, making it an attractive alternative to traditional hair ties.
Environmental Benefits
Each six-pack of Hair Halos saves approximately 30 grams of plastic and helps prevent roughly 100 grams of CO2 emissions. Ciao Bella donates 5 percent of its proceeds to environmental and community organizations, currently supporting the Surfrider Foundation and its work on the Tijuana River sewage crisis affecting San Diego’s southern coastline.
The Hair Halo is available in four sizes and can be purchased on the Ciao Bella Collective website. With its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness, the Hair Halo is a great option for those looking for a high-performance hair tie that is also gentle on the environment.
