Dallas-Fort Worth Development Updates

Dallas-Fort Worth is seeing significant development with several new projects in the works. In McKinney, a new hotel and restaurant are expected to debut later this year. The AC Hotel McKinney and Good & Proper Wood Fired Bistro are slated for a mid-October opening, according to general manager Craig Barnett. Construction began on the hotel in March 2024 and has since taken the project vertical to its planned five-story height.

Mixed-Use Project in McKinney

McKinney-based development company Craig International is redeveloping the former Globe Life headquarters campus into a $200 million mixed-use development called Rowlett Station. The campus is located on nearly 58 acres and includes 300,789 square feet of existing office space. Rowlett Station’s preliminary master plan includes apartments, retail and office space, as well as a network of hike and bike trails.

In other news, a new Chevrolet dealership is planned for Celina. Houston-based dealership Mac Haik Chevrolet is moving forward with plans to expand to Celina. The proposed dealership would sit on 25 acres of land, making it one of the largest dealerships in the country by square footage, according to a Chevrolet representative.

Other Local Updates

Additionally, there are 16 businesses that are now open, coming soon, or recently relocated in Prosper and Celina, including a new Barnes & Noble at the Gates of Prosper and a Chick-fil-A on Dallas Parkway. The original Hugs Cafe location in downtown McKinney closed May 30, ahead of the planned opening of the organization’s new Hugs Headquarters in East McKinney.
