A man is facing multiple charges after police say he ran from officers and attacked a police K-9 in Boynton Beach. According to an arrest report, Jaquez McMillian was taken into custody on June 11 at the Boynton Beach Utilities site on East Woolbright Road.
Officers were responding to a call about a suspect who had fled from Gulfstream police. When officers arrived, they found McMillian had entered the restricted property, where ‘No Trespassing’ signs were posted. A police drone spotted him hiding under a trailer. When officers and a K-9 approached, McMillian ran, leading officers on a chase through the property.
During the chase, police said the K-9 tried to make contact, but McMillian pushed the dog to the ground and pinned it by the neck before continuing to flee. Officers later surrounded him in a wooded area and took him into custody.
McMillian is charged with touching or striking a police K-9, resisting an officer without violence, and burglary of an occupied structure without a weapon, according to the report.
