Casper’s Historic Trails Center Closed For Renovations

The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper is closed for the next 45 days. The closure began on June 12 and will reopen on July 27. This closure is required so the National Historic Trails Center Foundation can fully clean, repair, and restore the exhibits.

Reason For Closure

The reason for the closure is due to the need to fully clean and repair the exhibits to ensure public safety. The foundation has been unable to fundraise or accept donations inside the building for the past 3.5 years, resulting in aged exhibits and obsolete technology.

The good news is that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has begun to move forward with a new partnership agreement, which will allow the foundation to resume accepting donations and fundraising once signed. This closure is an opportunity to restore, repair, and modernize the technology for the exhibits that make the Trails Center special.

There are several ways to help the foundation raise money to update the Trails Center, including deposits at Hilltop Bank, a direct PayPal account, a donation link on the foundation’s website, and by mail or phone.
