USMNT Faces Paraguay in World Cup Opener

Game Details

Kickoff time is set for 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The US team, led by star player Christian Pulisic, will look to claim all three points against a disciplined Paraguayan side led by Atlanta United star winger Miguel Almiron.

Defender Chris Richards is racing to be fit and is the team’s best center-back, so his return would be a key boost. Matt Freese is expected to start in net, a marquee moment for the 27-year-old NYCFC goalie. Paraguay’s Omar Alderete enjoyed a fine debut season in the Premier League with Sunderland, while Diego Gomez in midfield is a relentless engine who can contribute in the final third.
