The nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebrations will feature a major aerial showcase over the National Mall in Washington, D.C. later this month. The B-2 Spirit, the F-35A Lightning II, and the F-16 Fighting Falcon will be among the U.S. military aircraft participating in the flyovers.
Great American State Fair Kick-Off Celebration
The two-night event, scheduled for June 24 and 25, will serve as the centerpiece of the Great American State Fair Kick-Off Celebration. The June 24 kickoff will include a rare flyover by the B-2 stealth bomber alongside an F-35A formation flight and a patriotic demonstration by the F-16 Viper Demo Team.
The following evening, June 25, aircraft from multiple generations of military aviation are scheduled to participate in formation flyovers, including the B-52 Stratofortress, F-15 Eagle, F/A-18 Super Hornet, and the F-35C Lightning II. Freedom 250 CEO Keith Krach said the events are intended to commemorate 250 years of American independence while highlighting the nation’s military strength and technological achievements.
The flyovers are part of the larger Great American State Fair, scheduled for June 25 through July 10 on the National Mall. The fair will feature exhibits from all 50 states and U.S. territories, military performances, cultural programs, entertainment, food vendors, and family attractions.
