Naperville is set to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in style, with Naperville Responds For Veterans hosting the Freedom Ruck March and Birthday Bash Block Party on July 4. The event kicks off at 7AM with registration and check-in at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion, followed by the 4-mile Freedom Ruck March at 8AM.
What is Rucking?
Rucking is a low-impact workout that involves walking with a weighted backpack, similar to carrying groceries or commuting with a bag. It’s an activity that’s accessible to everyone, from seasoned veterans to families with young children, and ruck packs are not required for this event.
Following the march, the celebration moves to the Judd Kendall VFW for the Birthday Bash Block Party, featuring live music, food and beverages, and family-friendly activities. All registered ruckers will receive a commemorative swag bag and Memorial Ruck Patch, and event T-shirts will be available for purchase.
