A bullet struck an Orange County home late Tuesday night, shattering a kitchen window just moments after a woman who lives there left the room. It happened in a neighborhood off of Timber Springs Boulevard.
The family, who declined to speak on camera, shared photos of their shattered kitchen window and the bullet that hit their home. The homeowner said the bullet struck a watermelon, ricocheted off the backsplash, and landed on the counter.
Investigation Underway
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that it was investigating the incident. Deputies found shell casings across the pond near some palm trees, a spot where people often gather.
Neighbors expressed concern about the incident, with one saying, ‘I think they just came to have fun, and they are shooting into the water. I don’t think they knew what could happen. A person could die here.’
Another neighbor shared similar concerns, saying, ‘I guess whoever took that shot, it came from far, and regardless, you know, it hit this neighborhood. It hit somebody’s house. It could have killed somebody.’
