Kako Claw, a Virginia-based arcade operator, is preparing to open its newest location at The Mall in Columbia later this summer. The company, which has expanded to 15 locations in less than three years, offers a unique arcade experience with winnable claw machines.
A Focus on Customer Experience
According to Kevin Soulivong, director of operations for Kako Claw, the company’s focus is on providing a positive experience for its customers. ‘While we definitely take pride in the prizes that we carry, what we’re really selling is the experience,’ Soulivong said. ‘The prizes are simply a tangible souvenir of a positive memory.’
Kako Claw places a strong emphasis on employee interaction, with staff offering gameplay advice and rearranging prizes to make them more accessible. The company’s goal is to create an environment where the machines feel winnable, and not stacked against the player.
The prizes themselves are carefully chosen to tap into both nostalgia and current trends, with items such as Pokémon, Hello Kitty, and KPop Demon Hunters available. New items are added regularly based on customer feedback and popular culture.
A Growing Presence
Kako Claw’s expansion to Columbia marks its 16th location, with another planned for Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company’s growth is a testament to its commitment to providing a unique and enjoyable experience for its customers.
