Las Cruces Opens Cooling Stations

Las Cruces is opening temporary cooling stations to help residents beat the heat. The city is expecting triple-digit temperatures from June 9 to June 11.

Cooling Station Locations

The following locations will be available as cooling stations from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from June 9 to June 11: the Thomas Branigan Memorial Library, the Mesilla Valley Intermodal Terminal, and the Meerscheidt Recreation Center.

The Thomas Branigan Memorial Library is located at 200 E. Picacho Ave. and is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Mesilla Valley Intermodal Terminal is located at 300 W. Lohman Ave. and is available as a cooling station from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The Meerscheidt Recreation Center is located at 1600 E. Hadley Ave. and will be available from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Although the facility is under construction, designated areas will be open to the public to cool off.
