DFW Airport Expands Terminal C with New Gates for Summer Travel

Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) has opened new gates at Terminal C, just in time for the bustling summer travel season. This expansion is a significant milestone in the airport’s ambitious DFW Forward project, which is the largest infrastructure overhaul since the airport’s inception in 1974, with a budget of $12 billion.

Terminal C Enhancements

The recently completed section of Terminal C introduces nine new gates, operated by American Airlines. These gates are designed to improve passenger experience with luxury seating areas, an abundance of power outlets for electronic devices, and dynamic windows that adjust tint based on sunlight. Two of these gates were opened in April, four more were unveiled this Monday, and the remaining three are set to open in the coming weeks.

DFW Airport CEO Chris McLaughlin emphasized the importance of these developments, stating, “It’s an important step toward the fully reimagined terminal that customers will see come to life over just the next few years.” Jim Moses, American Airlines’ senior vice president of operations, added, “As you look around, it’s clear to see that we’re not just renovating, we are rebuilding for the future.”

Looking Ahead

In addition to the Terminal C upgrades, DFW is also constructing a new Terminal F and implementing various enhancements across existing terminals. The entire DFW Forward project is expected to be completed by 2029 or 2030, promising a more efficient and modern travel hub for the region.
