Golden State Valkyries Sign Nadia Fingall, Release Ndjakalenga Mwenentand

The Golden State Valkyries have announced the signing of center Nadia Fingall to a rest-of-season contract. Fingall, who previously showcased her skills at Stanford, joins the team after a successful stint with Valencia Basket in the EuroLeague.

Fingall’s Impressive Background

At 27, Fingall brings a wealth of experience to the Valkyries. She played a pivotal role in Valencia’s success, leading them to two Liga Femenina de Baloncénto titles and two Supercopa de España championships, earning MVP honors in 2024. Her recent performance with Casademont Zaragoza saw her average 8.7 points and 5.7 rebounds over 19 games, contributing to a bronze medal in the Final Six.

Fingall’s connection to the Valkyries organization is not new. She previously played alongside Ashten Prechtel, a current Valkyries developmental player, during their time at Stanford in the 2020-2021 season.

Roster Changes

To accommodate Fingall’s addition, the Valkyries have released guard Ndjakalenga Mwenentand. Mwenentand, who went undrafted in April, had a brief tenure with the team, appearing in just five games. Despite her limited playtime, she remains eligible to join another team and continue her professional career.

The decision to bring in Fingall is expected to bolster the Valkyries’ frontcourt, which has been anchored by Kiah Stokes, who is currently averaging 3.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game. The Valkyries, with a 6-5 record, are looking to improve their performance after losing two consecutive games.

Key players leading the team this season include Gabby Williams, averaging 14.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, Janelle Salaun with 13.9 points and 3.7 rebounds, and Veronica Burton, contributing 13.7 points and 5.5 assists per game.

The Valkyries are set to host the Phoenix Mercury on Tuesday, June 9th, as they aim to turn their season around with the new roster adjustments.
