Dallas Hosts Workshop to Boost Local Digital Media Industries

The Texas Film Commission has chosen Dallas as a host city for a Digital Media Friendly Texas workshop, scheduled for July 31, 2026. This initiative is part of a broader effort to attract animation, visual effects, video games, and extended reality production to the state. The workshop will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the North Oak Cliff Branch Library Auditorium, located at 302 West Tenth Street.

Statewide Initiative

Announced by the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office in the Office of Gov. Greg Abbott, this program positions Dallas to assist communities across Texas in pursuing certification that supports local job creation in digital media industries. A second workshop is planned for Buda in October.

Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of the growing media and digital media production industries in supporting local jobs and attracting new investments. He encouraged Texas communities to attend the workshop to leverage the advantages of being certified as a Digital Media Friendly Texas Community.

Who Should Attend

Community leaders from city or county governments, convention and visitors bureaus, chambers of commerce, or local economic development corporations are encouraged to participate. Attendees must serve as the designated liaison for media production inquiries, and attending a workshop is a required step for certification.

The program builds on existing certified communities, including Cedar Park, Lubbock, Little Elm, Paris, and Rockport. Certification helps localities connect with professionals in digital media sectors and promotes Texas as a destination for production.

Economic Opportunities

This initiative comes as Texas prepares for additional economic opportunities tied to major events, such as the FIFA World Cup 2026, where Dallas will host the International Broadcast Center. The region is expected to see significant visitor activity during this time.

State officials highlight that the Digital Media Friendly Texas program provides training and guidance to help communities connect with industry professionals and expand their economic base through certification. Registration for the Dallas workshop is available through the TFC Community Liaison Portal for eligible participants, with details posted on the Texas Film Commission website.
