Two Arrested Following Shooting at Waterbury Event Hall

In Waterbury, Connecticut, local law enforcement has apprehended two individuals following a shooting incident at the So Blu’Niq event hall on Wolcott Street. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, around 5 a.m., when officers were alerted to a shooting at the venue.

Investigation and Arrests

Upon investigation, authorities discovered that a 27-year-old woman had been injured in the shooting. She was found at a hospital with gunshot wounds to her abdomen and arm. Fortunately, she is in stable condition and continues to receive medical treatment.

Police determined that the shooting stemmed from an isolated disturbance inside the event hall, which escalated to the discharge of a firearm. During their investigation, officers also uncovered that liquor and alcoholic beverages were being sold illegally at the venue, without the necessary permits or licenses.

As a result of the investigation, warrants were issued for a 50-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man, both from Waterbury. The woman was arrested on charges related to the illegal sale of alcohol and is scheduled to appear in court on June 10. The man, who was taken into custody earlier, faces multiple charges including assault, criminal possession of a firearm, and illegal discharge of a firearm. He appeared in court on Thursday with a bond set at $1.5 million.

Community Impact

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about illegal activities and violence in community spaces. The Waterbury police continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and security of residents, addressing both violent crimes and regulatory violations.
