Wisconsin Timber Rattlers’ Winning Streak Ends in Cedar Rapids

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night as they fell to the Cedar Rapids Kernels 8-3 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Despite a strong start from pitcher Ethan Dorchies and a notable home run by Andrew Fischer, the Rattlers couldn’t maintain their lead.

Game Highlights

The game began with a challenging first inning for the Rattlers. Cedar Rapids’ Brandon Winokur reached base on a misplayed grounder and eventually scored due to a balk, giving the Kernels an early 1-0 lead. The Rattlers responded in the second inning when Daniel Dickinson singled, stole second, and was driven home by Tayden Hall, tying the game.

In the fourth inning, Dorchies faced a bases-loaded situation but managed to escape without allowing any runs, keeping the score tied. The Timber Rattlers took the lead in the sixth inning with Fischer’s impressive home run to right-center field. This marked Fischer’s seventeenth homer of the season, setting a new high for the team since their move to High-A classification in 2021.

Late Game Turnaround

However, the Kernels mounted a comeback in the seventh inning. Marek Houston hit a crucial two-run home run, followed by additional runs from walks and a wild pitch, putting Cedar Rapids ahead 7-2. Houston added another solo home run in the eighth inning, further extending the Kernels’ lead.

The Timber Rattlers managed to add one more run in the ninth inning, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. The loss denied Wisconsin their first five-game winning streak since 2024.

Looking Ahead

The Timber Rattlers will face the Kernels again on Saturday night for the fifth game of the series. Wande Torres is set to pitch for Wisconsin, while Cesar Lares will make his debut for Cedar Rapids. The game is scheduled to start at 6:35 pm.
