Nipomo High School recently celebrated the graduation of its Class of 2026 in a ceremony held at the school’s athletic stadium. The event, which lasted 75 minutes, took place under ideal weather conditions and featured nearly 200 seniors dressed in cardinal-colored caps and gowns.
Community and Family Celebrated
Principal John Denno opened the ceremony by emphasizing that the celebration was not only for the graduates but also for the parents, family, and friends who supported them. “By celebrating these students this evening, we are also honoring each of you, the families and friends who raised them,” Denno stated. He highlighted the role of families in teaching life’s most impactful lessons long before the students entered the classroom.
Denno also took the opportunity to recognize the educators from Nipomo’s elementary, middle, and high schools. He remarked, “Tonight we celebrate a journey that started thirteen years ago in kindergarten classrooms. Many shared the playgrounds of one of our community’s three elementary schools. Most were together at our one middle school. And all of you shared your Titan P.R.I.D.E. spirit at NHS! Tonight is a celebration for all of Nipomo!”
Academic Achievements and Community Spirit
The Class of 2026 was noted for its strong academic achievements, with Denno praising the students for surpassing the school’s mission to equip them for careers, college, and community involvement. “Class of 2026—you didn’t just meet that standard, you shattered it,” he said, commending the students for their dedication and potential.
Graduates Addisyn Tejada and Griffin Groshart shared their reflections on the close-knit nature of their class. Tejada described the class as “like a family,” emphasizing the strong bonds formed over the years. Groshart echoed this sentiment, expressing gratitude for the privilege of growing up with his classmates and highlighting the leadership and respect they demonstrated.
The graduation ceremony was a testament to the values of community, family, and education, celebrating not only the accomplishments of the students but also the support systems that have guided them throughout their educational journey.
