Michael Forret, a rising star in the world of baseball, has found his way back to Florida, a place that holds significant memories from his college days. After playing one season of JUCO baseball at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, Forret was drafted in the 14th round by the Baltimore Orioles during the 2023 draft. His journey through the professional ranks has now brought him to the Tampa Bay Rays, following a trade in December 2025.
Forret’s return to Florida is a full-circle moment, as he reflects on the possibility of making his major league debut close to where he spent his college years. ‘It is really cool now to think that if and when I make my debut and everything, I’m going to be so close to where I spent my college time and everything which will be awesome,’ Forret shared.
Currently ranked as the #8 prospect for the Rays, Forret is eager to make an impact and continue his growth as a professional athlete. Fans can catch Forret and the rest of the Montgomery Biscuits, the Rays’ minor league team, at home next week as they face off against the Smokies.
