Fat Tuesday Brings New Orleans Flavor to Baltimore with New Location

Baltimore residents will soon have a new spot to enjoy New Orleans-inspired food and drinks as Fat Tuesday, a national chain, prepares to open a location in the city’s Fells Point neighborhood. The Baltimore liquor board recently approved a Class “B” Beer, Wine, and Liquor restaurant license for the business, paving the way for its arrival.

Fat Tuesday will occupy a 4,000-square-foot space at 718-22 S. Broadway, the former site of The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and signature frozen daiquiris like the 190 Octane and Cat 5 Hurricane, Fat Tuesday aims to bring a slice of Bourbon Street to Charm City.

The menu, included in the application, features a variety of pizzas, entrees, starters, sides, desserts, and drinks. One standout item is the “Charm City Sunrise,” a cocktail priced at $19, made with Patrón, orange juice, grenadine, and a dunked Red Bull Original.

History and Expansion

Fat Tuesday first opened its doors on Bourbon Street in New Orleans in 1984. Since then, it has expanded to nearly 90 locations across the United States and abroad, becoming a popular destination for those seeking a festive atmosphere and a taste of Mardi Gras.

The name “Fat Tuesday” is a nod to Mardi Gras, a holiday celebrated with indulgent foods before the fasting season of Lent. New Orleans is renowned for its Mardi Gras celebrations, which include parades, costumes, beads, music, and merrymaking.

With its new Baltimore location, Fat Tuesday hopes to capture the spirit of New Orleans and provide a unique dining experience for locals and visitors alike.
