Evansville Police Department officials reported that a man identified as Raymond Hill allegedly spat at an officer on two occasions during his arrest and transport on Saturday night.
Incident details
According to an affidavit filed by the department, officers responded to a call about an intoxicated individual at Break Time Bar & Grill on South Barker Avenue around 7:30 p.m. A bartender informed the officers that a patron had left the establishment. Later, an officer located Hill sleeping near the intersection of Cambridge and Barker Avenue.
When the officer approached Hill, he discovered that Hill had three active misdemeanor warrants. Hill was placed in handcuffs, and the officer began securing him in the patrol vehicle, including fastening a seat belt.
During the process of securing the seat belt, Hill allegedly spat at the officer, striking the left side of the officer’s face. The officer continued to transport Hill to the Vanderburgh County Jail, and Hill is reported to have spat at the officer again during the ride.
Charges filed
Following the incident, Hill was booked on the three outstanding misdemeanor warrants and an additional charge of Battery Against a Public Safety Official. The department has not released Hill’s mugshot at this time.
