ELKTON, Md. – On Wednesday morning, deputies responded to a disturbing scene on Chestnut Drive when they discovered an 81‑year‑old Delaware resident naked and injured in the front yard of a home. The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office says the victim had been lured to the house by a 31‑year‑old woman, identified as Taylor Falcone, under the pretense of meeting her.
Alleged assault and robbery
According to investigators, after the victim entered the residence he was confronted by 28‑year‑old Michael Maniscalco. Maniscalco allegedly became aggressive, tied the victim to a chair, and prevented him from leaving. The victim was repeatedly punched, threatened with a knife at his throat, and forced to remove his clothing.
During the assault, the assailant poured hot syrup over the victim’s body, causing multiple burns. Maniscalco is also accused of using a marker to write the safe combination on the victim’s forehead and to mark his chest while threatening further violence.
Motivation and stolen items
Authorities say the abuse was intended to force the victim to reveal the combination to a safe located at his Delaware home. After the victim was forced to disclose the combination, Maniscalco allegedly stole approximately $80 in cash, a gold chain, a gold Seiko watch, a gold bracelet, and keys to several vehicles, including a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette, a 2026 GMC Sierra and a 2016 Cadillac Escalade.
Falcone reportedly left the home during the assault. The victim managed to free himself and escape after Maniscalco fell asleep. A brief standoff with deputies followed, after which Maniscalco was taken into custody.
Charges and legal proceedings
Maniscalco has been charged with robbery, assault and related offenses. Falcone faces charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit first‑degree assault and additional counts. Both defendants are being held without bail.
A search of the residence recovered the stolen property, according to the sheriff’s office. The victim received treatment at a local hospital and was later released.
Community response
Local officials emphasized the seriousness of targeting vulnerable seniors and urged residents to exercise caution when meeting strangers, especially those arranging meetings through online platforms. The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office reminded the public that any suspicious activity should be reported immediately.
This case underscores the importance of community vigilance and the need for robust support for older adults who may be targeted by criminals seeking financial gain.
