Oklahoma City Celebrates Route 66 Centennial with National Spotlight

Oklahoma City is in the national spotlight as ‘Good Morning America’ visits to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Route 66. This iconic highway, with over 400 miles running through Oklahoma, has been a focal point of statewide celebrations throughout the year.

Hundreds gathered in Oklahoma City over the weekend for the ‘Kickin’ It Route 66′ event, honoring the legacy of the Mother Road. The event featured new attractions and community celebrations that have drawn both national and international attention.

Amy Blackburn, the executive director of Oklahoma Tourism, expressed excitement about the national exposure. ‘Route 66 really has a national and international draw, and coming to Oklahoma to highlight our role in the centennial is just a great honor,’ she said. ‘We’re so excited to get that national exposure to get people to come and visit, enjoy the Mother Road and every attraction in Oklahoma statewide.’
