Flower Mound residents are invited to join a charitable effort that could brighten the holidays for 1,500 children facing financial hardship. On Saturday, Nov. 7, Bakersfield Park at 1201 Duncan Lane will host a community toy drive organized by Christian Community Action (CCA) in partnership with Dorothy’s Dash, the Flower Mound Youth Sports Association (FMYSA), and Perfect Game’s Keep Calm and Baseball On Tournament.
How the drive works
Donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Anyone – whether or not they are participating in the 5‑k run or the baseball tournament – may drop off a gift. Dorothy’s Dash runners are encouraged to bring a toy in the morning, and beginning at noon the baseball tournament will welcome players and families, urging them to contribute as well.
What CCA’s Christmas Cheer program provides
CCA’s Christmas Cheer program assists families who are already stretched thin by rent, utilities and grocery costs. Parents work with case managers to create wish lists for each child. Every child receives a selection of toys, a handmade stocking, and a new book chosen by the parents. In addition, families are given wrapping paper and tape so they can prepare the presents for Christmas morning.
Community response
“We are grateful to Dorothy’s Dash, FMYSA, Perfect Game, and everyone who joins this effort to support local children,” said Ashley Anderson of CCA. “Every donated toy helps bring joy to a child and reminds families that their community cares about them.”
The drive reflects Flower Mound’s strong tradition of volunteerism and faith‑based outreach, reinforcing the town’s commitment to families and the next generation. Those unable to attend the park can still support the cause by visiting ccahelps.org/kids-christmas for additional ways to give.
Why it matters
For families already juggling essential expenses, a simple gift can make a profound difference in a child’s sense of belonging and hope during the holiday season. By rallying local runners, baseball participants, and everyday citizens, the toy drive exemplifies how community members can work together to uphold Christian values of generosity and compassion.
Organizers hope the event will not only meet its goal of 1,500 gifts but also inspire ongoing support for CCA’s broader programs that address food insecurity, utility assistance, and other critical needs throughout the year.
