Families in Nashville facing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia have a new resource coming to town. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) will host a free Alzheimer’s & Caregiving Educational Conference on Wednesday, November 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central Time at the Southwestern Conference Center, 2451 Atrium Way.
What attendees can expect
The conference is part of AFA’s National Educating Across America Tour and is open to anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimer’s disease, brain health, and effective caregiving strategies. Attendees will hear from a lineup of experts in the field, including featured speaker Lee Ann Hyatt of the nonprofit We Remember You, who will share insights on supporting loved ones with memory loss.
Special appearance by Jason Aldean
Country music star Jason Aldean and his wife, Brittany, will also appear. Both have personal connections to dementia: Aldean’s uncle died after battling Lewy body dementia, and Brittany’s father, Donald Kerr, has lived with Lewy body dementia since 2022. The couple will tell their story, offer practical tips for families, and remind participants that they are not alone in this journey.
How to register
While the event is free, advance registration is strongly encouraged to help organizers plan seating and materials. Interested individuals can sign up at www.alzfdn.org/tour. The conference promises a supportive environment where families can connect with professionals and each other.
