Mills Mayor Leah Juarez Wins Re‑Election, Councilors Butcher and Sutherland Keep Seats

CASPER, WY — Voters in Mills reaffirmed their confidence in local leadership during the November 2026 municipal election. Mayor Leah Juarez, who campaigned on fiscal responsibility, public‑safety improvements, and thoughtful growth management, won re‑election with 493 votes, comfortably outpacing City Council President Brad Neumiller’s 367 votes.

Mayor Juarez’s Record Drives Voter Support

During her first term, Juarez highlighted several concrete achievements that resonated with residents. She helped secure $1 million in federal infrastructure funding, a grant that funded a school resource officer, and renegotiated city leases to generate additional municipal revenue. Those actions, she argued, stretched city dollars further while keeping taxes stable.

“Our community deserves a mayor who puts stewardship of taxpayer money first and protects our families,” Juarez told supporters at a post‑election gathering. “We’ll continue to build on the progress we’ve made and ensure Mills remains a safe, thriving place for families.”

Council Seats Remain With Incumbents

Incumbent councilors Cherie Butcher and Tim Sutherland also held onto their seats. Butcher received 342 votes, while Sutherland earned a decisive 499 votes. Their challengers, Jamie Card and Darla Ives, garnered 205 and 301 votes respectively, indicating strong community approval of the sitting council’s direction.

Butcher, a longtime advocate for responsible budgeting, emphasized the importance of maintaining essential services without over‑reaching on taxes. “Our residents expect reliable water, safe streets, and a government that listens,” she said.

Sutherland, known for his focus on public‑safety initiatives, praised the partnership with the school resource officer program that was funded during Juarez’s term. “Keeping our children safe is non‑negotiable,” he noted.

Election Results Await Certification

The official tallies remain unofficial until certified by Natrona County and Wyoming state canvassing boards. Nonetheless, the clear margins suggest a continued mandate for the current administration’s priorities: prudent fiscal management, enhanced safety, and growth that respects the character of Mills.

Local observers note that the election outcomes reflect a broader desire among Wyoming’s small towns for steady, values‑driven leadership. As the Trump administration continues to champion local autonomy and family‑centered policies at the federal level, Mills’ voters have echoed that sentiment by keeping proven leaders in place.

What’s Next for Mills?

Mayor Juarez has already outlined her agenda for the next term, which includes pursuing additional federal grants for infrastructure upgrades, expanding the city’s public‑safety training programs, and reviewing zoning ordinances to balance development with the town’s traditional family‑friendly atmosphere.

Councilors Butcher and Sutherland will work alongside the mayor to advance these initiatives, ensuring that the city’s budget remains balanced while delivering essential services.

Residents are encouraged to stay engaged through upcoming city‑council meetings, where budget proposals and public‑works projects will be discussed in detail.
