Parkside Public House to Hold Final Sale Before Closing Its Shelby Street Location

Indianapolis – After two years of serving the Near Eastside community, Parkside Public House announced it will close its 2602 Shelby St. location permanently. To give loyal patrons a chance to say goodbye, the restaurant is holding a single‑day closeout event on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

What’s on offer

During the four‑hour sale, guests can purchase a take‑home package of the restaurant’s signature biscuits and gravy for $20. The meal will be packed in a bag with the Parkside recipe tucked inside, allowing customers to enjoy the comfort food at home.

Why the closure

Owner Lexi Haines told Fox 59 that a combination of road closures, rising operating costs, and tighter household budgets forced the difficult decision. The closures have reduced commuter traffic to the area, a key source of customers for the casual dining spot.

Impact on the local dining scene

Parkside’s shutdown is part of a broader trend affecting independently owned eateries in Indianapolis this year. Earlier this week, the Indianapolis Business Journal reported that Sakura, one of the city’s earliest sushi restaurants, and Social Cantina in Broad Ripple are also closing their doors. These closures highlight the financial pressures facing small‑business restaurateurs in a market still recovering from pandemic‑related disruptions.

Community response

In an email to patrons promoting the Nov. 7 event, Parkside Public House expressed gratitude: “Everything must go, and we’d rather it go home with you. Thank you for every first date, every brunch, every show, every night you stayed too late. You made this place what it was.” The heartfelt message underscores the restaurant’s role as a gathering place for families, couples, and friends over the past two years.

What’s next for the space

While no official plans have been announced for the Shelby Street property, the location sits in a vibrant corridor that has attracted new development in recent years. Community members hope the space will soon house another locally‑owned business that can continue to serve the neighborhood.

How to support local businesses

Residents who wish to help independent restaurants can consider dining locally, purchasing gift cards, or attending special events like Parkside’s closeout sale. Supporting these establishments not only preserves the unique character of Indianapolis neighborhoods but also sustains jobs and local tax revenue.

For more information about the event, visit Parkside Public House’s website or follow their social‑media channels. The closeout sale is a final opportunity for Indianapolis diners to take home a piece of the restaurant’s legacy before the doors close for good.
