The Greater North Dakota Chamber brought its annual Marketer’s Roadshow to Minot on Saturday, offering local entrepreneurs a chance to learn proven marketing tactics without leaving the city. After successful stops in Bismarck and Fargo last year, the roadshow’s mission is to connect North Dakota’s small‑business community with seasoned marketers and peer networks.
Local experts share actionable advice
Among the speakers was Amanda Remynse, a longtime advocate for North Dakota businesses. Remynse emphasized that thriving businesses are the backbone of every community, not just the larger metropolitan areas. “I’m hoping that they see there’s a room full of peers they can bounce ideas off, and local subject‑matter experts they can take advantage of,” she said.
Jade Scherr, owner of the local digital agency HexaHive, reminded attendees that marketing is an experiment. “Not everything’s gonna go how you want, and you should constantly be changing it and tweaking and evolving,” Scherr explained, urging business owners to treat campaigns as iterative processes.
Whitney Jensen, director of marketing at AdShark, focused on profitability. She urged small firms to identify the channels that deliver the best return on investment. “Small businesses can benefit from being aware of what channels best suit them, and how to get in front of those customers in a profitable way,” Jensen said.
Jensen also highlighted the importance of tracking leads and measuring ad performance. “A common mistake I see businesses make is not understanding the level of insight you can gain into your ad performance and how we can tie back customers to the paid ads to understand how well the marketing is working,” she noted.
Tools and takeaways for immediate use
Throughout the afternoon, participants worked through real‑world scenarios, drafted messaging frameworks, and explored low‑cost digital platforms. Attendees left with a toolkit that includes checklists for ad tracking, templates for social‑media calendars, and a list of local service providers who can assist with graphic design, copywriting and website optimization.
The event also fostered networking among business owners, creating a support system that can continue beyond the roadshow. Many expressed excitement about forming a regional marketing roundtable to share results and troubleshoot challenges together.
Looking ahead
The Chamber announced the next Marketer’s Roadshow stop will be in Jamestown on Nov. 9, continuing the effort to bring marketing expertise to every corner of the state. For more information about upcoming events, visit the Greater North Dakota Chamber’s website.
