In an effort to boost local tourism, Marshall County Tourism and Sports has launched a new initiative at Cathedral Caverns State Park in Grant, Alabama. The project, unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony, introduces a photo trail designed to engage visitors and promote the county’s natural beauty.

Engaging Visitors Through Social Media

The first marker of the photo trail is strategically placed at the iconic mouth of the cavern, inviting visitors to take photos and share them on social media platforms. This initiative aims to leverage the power of social networks to attract more tourists to the area. Katy Norton, president of Marshall County Tourism and Sports, explained that the idea is for visitors to help market the county by sharing their experiences. “They look at their friends’ and family’s posts and say, ‘Oh, I want to take a picture there. I want to be in that place,'” Norton said.

The photo trail is part of a broader strategy to highlight the county’s attractions, including its scenic parks and riverfronts. Additional markers are planned for Buck’s Pocket State Park, Lake Guntersville State Park, and along the riverfront in Guntersville, offering more opportunities for visitors to capture and share their adventures.
