Arlington, Texas, is set to welcome a new dining experience as Culpepper Cattle Co. prepares to open a Tex-Mex steakhouse at the former site of Trail Dust Steakhouse on E. Lamar Blvd. The new establishment is expected to begin construction this summer, with a planned opening in early 2027.
A New Chapter in Arlington’s Dining Scene
The Culpepper Cattle Co. restaurant will occupy a 9,500-square-foot space, bringing a blend of Texas steakhouse warmth and the vibrant energy of Tex-Mex cuisine. Charmi Patel-Peña, creative director for the restaurant’s owner, Dallas-based UNCO, emphasized the focus on USDA Prime steaks, premium fajitas, and fresh house-made tortillas, aiming to create a hospitality-driven dining experience.
Patel-Peña expressed excitement about revitalizing a site that has been a part of Arlington’s dining history. The new restaurant will maintain the same menu as other Culpepper Cattle Co. locations, featuring signature dishes like Cowboy Cigars, Cadillac Fajitas, and Horchata Cheesecake. The lively atmosphere will include spacious dining areas and a vibrant bar.
Economic Impact and Community Growth
The $1.5 million project is expected to employ approximately 120 people in both front-of-house and kitchen positions, contributing to the local economy. The permitting process will dictate the timeline for construction and completion, but the company is eager to proceed swiftly.
Arlington’s growth and leadership vision were highlighted by Patel-Peña as key factors in choosing the location. UNCO founder and CEO Elias Pope has personal ties to the city, having previously lived in Arlington and contributed to the opening of Saltgrass Steak House. The company views Arlington as a community investing in its future, and they are excited to be part of this growth.
UNCO, also known for the HG Sply Co. restaurants, sees this new venture as a continuation of their commitment to delivering quality dining experiences across Texas.
