The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon is making a significant move by expanding its services to La Pine, Oregon. This expansion comes with a rebranding from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend to better reflect its broader reach. The organization has partnered with the La Pine Parks and Recreation District to provide enhanced youth programming, starting in the 2026-2027 school year.
New Opportunities for La Pine Youth
Starting this September, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon will offer after-school programming at the La Pine Community Center. This program, which costs $75 per week, will run Monday through Friday until 6:30 p.m. Financial aid options are available for families in need. To facilitate access, transportation will be provided from Rosland Elementary, and walking support will be available from La Pine Elementary.
Daneille Rosenfield, Board Chair for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon, expressed enthusiasm for the new chapter in La Pine, highlighting the community’s potential to offer young people a safe and dedicated space to learn and grow after school. The partnership with La Pine Parks & Recreation is seen as a vital component of this initiative.
Community Collaboration
Wynn Malikowski, Facilities Director for the La Pine Parks and Recreation District, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, noting that the Boys & Girls Clubs have been leaders in youth enrichment since 1860. This partnership aims to bring vibrant activity back to the community center and provide parents with a low-cost option for after-school programming.
Kecia Kubota, CEO of Camp Fire Central Oregon, acknowledged the transition, praising the collaborative spirit that prioritizes children’s needs. While Camp Fire Central Oregon will hand over its after-school and summer programming duties in South County to the Boys & Girls Clubs, it remains committed to serving Central Oregon youth through other programs.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, Michael Baker, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Oregon, stated the organization’s commitment to expanding its impact across the region. The goal is to serve more members more frequently and with greater depth, with hopes of extending services to additional communities in Central Oregon.
