Battle Ground Public Schools Offers Free Summer Lunches for Youth

Battle Ground Public Schools is stepping up to support local families by offering free lunches to children and teens aged 18 and under during the summer months. This initiative, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, ensures that young residents have access to nutritious meals even when school is out.

The Summer Food Service Program will operate from June 15 through August 20, with meals available Monday through Friday, excluding the holiday period from July 1 to July 3. The lunches will be served at CAM Academy, located at 406 NW 5th Ave, Battle Ground, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. daily.

Importantly, this program is open to all children and teens, regardless of whether they attend a Battle Ground school. Each meal includes a variety of hot and cold entrees, nutritious sides, and beverages, ensuring a balanced diet for growing kids. All meals must be consumed on-site, fostering a sense of community and shared experience among participants.

The program adheres to federal civil rights laws, prohibiting discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, including gender identity and sexual orientation, disability, age, or retaliation for prior civil rights activity. This commitment to inclusivity ensures that all eligible children can benefit from the program without fear of discrimination.

For families in the Battle Ground area, this initiative provides not only nutritional support but also peace of mind, knowing their children have access to healthy meals during the summer break. The program reflects the community’s commitment to supporting traditional family values by ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
