EVANSVILLE, Indiana – As winter approaches, CenterPoint Energy is stepping up to help local families manage the rise in heating costs. The CenterPoint Energy Foundation announced additional funding on Wednesday to support customers throughout the Tri‑State area.
Community Connect event provides resources
The announcement was part of Energy Assistance Awareness Day, highlighted by a Community Connect event held in Evansville. Attendees met with CenterPoint representatives who explained the various assistance options available before bills arrive.
“Energy bills are always a concern for families, and so we know that,” said Mike Roder, President of CenterPoint Energy Indiana. “We’ve done a number of things over the last two years to try to be transparent with customers, to try to give customers programs and assistance available before they need it. Today is an example of that.”
How families can access help
Customers who could not attend the event are encouraged to contact CenterPoint directly to learn about eligibility and application procedures. The utility’s website and customer‑service line provide details on the new funding, which is intended to offset higher winter heating expenses for low‑ and moderate‑income households.
CenterPoint Energy has previously partnered with local nonprofits and government agencies to deliver energy‑efficiency upgrades and bill‑payment assistance. This latest infusion of funds continues that effort, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the community during the colder months.
Impact on the community
Local leaders praised the initiative, noting that reliable, affordable heating is essential for family stability and health during winter. By offering early‑season support, CenterPoint aims to reduce the risk of service interruptions and alleviate financial strain on vulnerable households.
For more information, residents can visit the CenterPoint Energy website, call the dedicated assistance hotline, or stop by the next Community Connect event, which will be announced later this month.
