Fan Interrupts NBA Finals Game to Take Selfie with Victor Wembanyama

In a surprising turn of events during Game 1 of the NBA Finals, a fan ran onto the court at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, attempting to take a selfie with Spurs star Victor Wembanyama. The incident occurred midway through the fourth quarter with the New York Knicks leading 92-86.

The fan managed to reach Wembanyama as the Spurs were on offense, but was quickly apprehended by security personnel and escorted off the court. The brief disruption did not involve any physical contact with the players, and Wembanyama was seen smiling and looking confused during the incident.

After the game, Wembanyama commented, “I’ve never been in that situation. I didn’t know how to act,” expressing his surprise at the unexpected encounter. He humorously compared the incident to a previous occurrence in 2024 when a bat interrupted a game in San Antonio.

The game resumed shortly after with a jump ball, and Spurs coach Mitch Johnson downplayed the event, stating, “I don’t think it was an event at all. I thought security got him out of there. I think everybody moved on to the next play.”

The Knicks ultimately secured a 105-95 victory, extending their playoff win streak to 12 games, a notable achievement in NBA history. Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET in San Antonio.
