Hoover Zoning Board Supports A2 Church Expansion Proposal

The A2 Church, located at 6 Greenhill Parkway in Hoover, Alabama, is moving forward with plans to expand its facilities. The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended that the Hoover City Council approve a 2,000-square-foot addition to the church’s existing 13,000-square-foot building. This expansion is planned for the southeast side of the current structure, near Greenhill Parkway.

City Planner Mac Martin explained that although the property is already used as a church, it is zoned as a C-2 community business district. Therefore, the expansion requires conditional use approval from the City Council. The church also intends to improve its parking area, which previously served as an office for a nursery greenhouse still present on the site. The church must ensure that parking lot lighting does not disturb neighboring properties and that it complies with stormwater regulations.

The proposal will now proceed to the Hoover City Council for final consideration. This expansion reflects the church’s commitment to better serve its community by enhancing its facilities.

Additional Zoning Board Decisions

In other decisions, the zoning board approved the extension of Everlee Parkway to connect with the Ross Bridge subdivision, contingent on the construction of a school by Hoover City Schools. The board also approved final plans for Phase 1B of the Riverwalk development, which includes 21 residential lots, one multi-family lot, and a common area lot. Additionally, the board recommended that the City Council allow OpaLuxe, a paramedical tattoo practice, to operate within the Phenix Salon Suites in the Riverchase Promenade shopping center.
