McDonald’s Launches World Cup Meals with Collectible Cups

As the excitement for the upcoming World Cup builds, McDonald’s has announced its latest offering to celebrate the global soccer event. Starting June 4, McDonald’s will launch special World Cup meals that come with collectible cups featuring renowned soccer icons. This initiative coincides with the tournament’s expansion to 48 teams and its hosting by the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

World Cup Meals and Collectibles

The World Cup meals will offer customers a choice between a Big Mac or a 10-piece Chicken Nuggets, accompanied by the signature gold-packaged Big Mac Sauce. The collectible cups, a highlight of the promotion, will feature a mix of legendary and contemporary soccer figures. Among them is Christian Pulisic, captain of the U.S. men’s national soccer team, alongside other icons like David Beckham, Ronaldinho Gaucho, and Thierry Henry.

Christian Pulisic shared his personal connection to McDonald’s, recalling childhood memories of visiting the fast-food chain after soccer tournaments. He expressed his excitement about being featured on a collectible cup, describing it as a ‘full-circle moment.’

Family-Friendly Offerings

In addition to the main meals, McDonald’s is also introducing a FIFA-inspired Happy Meal starting June 9. Young soccer fans can look forward to receiving one of 23 squishmallow plushies, which include the official mascots for the World Cup. These plushies, dressed in soccer-themed jerseys, come with a scannable code that unlocks a digital game on the Happy Meal website.

Morgan Flatley, Global Chief Marketing Officer and Head of New Business Ventures at McDonald’s, emphasized the joy of bringing families, friends, and fans together during the World Cup. The partnership with FIFA aims to enhance the shared experience of the tournament through food and collectibles.

With the World Cup set to kick off on June 11, McDonald’s is poised to be a part of the celebration, offering fans of all ages a chance to engage with the tournament through these limited-time meals and keepsakes.
