Dallas Mavericks Plan New Arena and Entertainment District in North Dallas

The Dallas Mavericks have announced plans to develop a new arena and entertainment district on approximately 104 acres of the former Valley View Mall site in far north Dallas. This ambitious project aims to transform the area into a vibrant mixed-use destination featuring restaurants, entertainment venues, green spaces, and family-friendly experiences.

New Home for the Mavericks

According to a statement from the team, the Mavericks have entered into ‘option agreements’ to purchase the land located off of I-35 and Preston Road. The team plans to move out of its current downtown Dallas location at the American Airlines Center by 2031, when their lease expires. The Valley View site was chosen as it meets most of the criteria set by the Mavericks during their evaluation process. The team expressed their desire to remain within the City of Dallas, and they believe this site offers the best opportunity to achieve that goal.

Community Impact

The development of this new arena and entertainment district is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the area, potentially creating jobs and boosting local businesses. The inclusion of family-friendly experiences aligns with the Mavericks’ commitment to fostering a community-oriented environment.

Transportation Considerations

While Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) buses serve the new arena location, the area currently lacks rail service. This could present a challenge for some fans and visitors, but the team may explore additional transportation options as the project progresses.
