Keizer City Council to Review Chamber Tourism Marketing Report and KeizerFEST Metrics

On Monday, Oct. 19, the Keizer City Council will convene to consider a semi‑annual report prepared by the Keizer Chamber of Commerce. The report provides the first set of performance metrics for the chamber’s newly launched tourism‑marketing program, as well as early data on the upcoming KeizerFEST celebration.

Tourism‑marketing effort takes shape

Over the past several months the chamber has overhauled its visitor‑information website, adding a dedicated “Eat, Stay, Play” section to help travelers discover local dining, lodging, and attractions. To make the site more user‑friendly, QR codes were distributed to hotels, restaurants, and other gathering places throughout Keizer. Visitors can scan the codes to receive instant access to curated recommendations and event listings.

The report notes that, since the QR codes were introduced in September, the chamber has recorded a measurable increase in website traffic from out‑of‑town visitors. Click‑through rates on the QR links have risen steadily, indicating that travelers are using the technology to plan their stays in Keizer.

KeizerFEST metrics and expectations

KeizerFEST, the city’s flagship summer festival, is highlighted in the report as a key driver of tourism. Early ticket‑sale figures and vendor sign‑ups suggest strong community interest. The chamber estimates that the festival will attract several thousand visitors, generating additional revenue for local businesses and reinforcing Keizer’s reputation as a family‑friendly destination.

Chamber officials also tracked social‑media engagement surrounding KeizerFEST. Hashtag usage and shares have grown by double digits since the campaign launch, reflecting heightened awareness among both residents and potential visitors.

Council’s role and next steps

During the Oct. 19 session, council members will discuss the report’s findings and consider any recommendations for expanding the marketing effort. Topics on the agenda include allocating additional resources for QR‑code distribution, enhancing the website’s mobile experience, and exploring partnerships with neighboring cities to create regional tourism corridors.

Mayor and councilors emphasized the importance of supporting local businesses through targeted promotion. By directing visitors to family‑owned restaurants, boutique shops, and outdoor recreation sites, the city hopes to boost sales for entrepreneurs who form the backbone of the community.

Community response

Local business owners have expressed optimism about the new tools. “The QR codes make it easy for guests to find us without having to search online,” said Maria Lopez, owner of a downtown café. “We’ve already seen a few new customers mention the code when they order.”

Residents attending the upcoming KeizerFEST also welcomed the initiative, noting that clearer information will help families plan activities and reduce traffic congestion during the event.

The council is expected to vote on any budget adjustments related to the marketing program before the end of the fiscal year, ensuring that the effort remains sustainable and aligned with the city’s long‑term economic goals.
