Plano International Festival Returns Oct. 17 with Naturalization Ceremony and Global Food

The Plano International Festival is back for its 2026 edition, opening its gates at Haggard Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This beloved community celebration brings together families, faith‑centered volunteers, and local businesses for a day of multicultural learning and fellowship.

Record‑size naturalization ceremony

The festival will kick off with an outdoor naturalization ceremony, where a record 100 individuals are expected to take the Oath of Allegiance and become U.S. citizens. Since the festival’s inception in 2005, more than 900 people have been naturalized during the event, underscoring the community’s commitment to welcoming newcomers and honoring the Constitution’s promise of liberty.

Culture, dance, and education

Throughout the afternoon, local cultural groups and dance studios will perform a diverse lineup that includes Aztec and African American dance, ballet, belly dancing, and more. Children can explore cultural booths, collect stamps in Festival Passports, and learn about languages and traditions from around the world. Additional activities such as robotics, coding, chess, arts and crafts, and an instrument petting zoo hosted by the Plano Symphony Orchestra provide educational enrichment for all ages.

International cuisine and food trucks

Food trucks will line the park offering a global menu: bulgogi, halal burgers, burritos, barbecue, bubble tea, funnel cakes, and other festival favorites. The variety reflects Plano’s growing diversity and gives families a chance to sample flavors they might not otherwise encounter.

Wellness Fair and fitness demonstrations

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Courtyard Theatre at 1509 Avenue H will host a Wellness Fair with free flu shots, blood‑pressure checks, vision and dental exams, and other health screenings. Carter BloodCare will also be on site for blood donations. Nearby, the Fitzone near the Saigling House will feature interactive yoga, Pilates, and martial‑arts demonstrations, encouraging attendees to stay active and healthy.

Zero‑waste commitment

The festival continues its Zero Waste program, using biodegradable utensils and composting stations that have previously diverted up to 90% of waste from landfills. This environmentally responsible approach aligns with Plano’s broader sustainability goals.

Volunteer organizers also run Global Grooves events throughout the year at McCall Plaza, and upcoming celebrations include Día de los Muertos on Oct. 30 and Native American Heritage on Nov. 21, both beginning at 7 p.m.

The Plano International Festival is free to the public and takes place at Haggard Park, 901 E. 15th St. It offers a vibrant, family‑friendly way for residents to celebrate the city’s cultural richness while honoring the values of faith, family, and individual liberty that define our community.
