The Allen Police Department is eagerly anticipating the completion of its new $97.1 million headquarters, scheduled to open in March 2027. This significant development is a result of the $83 million bond approved by Allen voters in 2023, reflecting the community’s support for local law enforcement.
Construction Progress
According to Public Information Officer Alexus Birmingham, the Core Construction Services team is making substantial progress. The roof, exterior windows, and waterproofing are nearing completion, while interior work such as sheetrock installation and wall tiling is well underway. Data cabling is also being installed, ensuring the facility is equipped with modern technology.
“We have had favorable weather that has not caused any significant delays,” Birmingham noted, expressing gratitude for the community’s support and excitement for the opportunities the new headquarters will bring.
Features of the New Facility
The new 103,000-square-foot, three-story facility will be strategically located on Century Parkway, between Allen City Hall and the Allen post office. Assistant Police Chief Kyle Taliaferro highlighted the department’s growth alongside the city, necessitating a larger facility.
The headquarters will feature a large community room for public events, an expanded property and evidence room, a larger crime scene lab, secure parking, and strategically organized workspaces. Additionally, a human performance center dedicated to officer wellness and a spacious training room will be included, underscoring the department’s commitment to both community engagement and officer health.
