The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) is alerting residents to a scam involving fraudulent video calls. Scammers are posing as lottery representatives, falsely claiming to offer winning million-dollar tickets to unsuspecting individuals. ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong emphasized that these offers are fraudulent, stating, “Players can buy lottery tickets at licensed ASL retailers, but we do not offer winning lottery tickets or other monetary prizes over the phone.”
Recognizing Legitimate Lottery Contact
ASL clarifies that winners of the Play It Again® Second-Chance drawings may be contacted, but only if they have entered previously non-winning instant tickets into the drawing. Legitimate winners will be contacted by an official lottery representative, and they can verify their win on The Club’s Drawings and Winners page.
ASL advises that any contact regarding random lottery prizes or drawings that individuals did not enter should be treated as a scam. Additionally, if someone requests personal information, payment of a fee, or directs you to a location other than the ASL Claim Center to claim winnings, it is a scam.
Reporting Scam Activity
Residents who encounter these scam calls are encouraged to report them to ASL Director of Investigations and Enforcement Blake Hudson via email at [email protected], call the Arkansas Lottery Security Hotline at 1-888-606-6292, and file a complaint with the Arkansas Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
