The RepMo Rotary Club is set to host the first-ever Republic Day of Service on Saturday, June 13, with the theme ‘One Town, One Community, One Purpose.’ The event aims to unite the community through acts of service, beginning with a breakfast at the Community Kitchen at 8:30 a.m.
Community Engagement and Volunteer Opportunities
Throughout the day, volunteers will participate in various service activities across the city, including landscaping at Lyon Elementary and trash pickup along Highway 60. While several volunteer opportunities have already been filled, many remain open, allowing residents to fund and host their own initiatives.
With over 100 volunteers already signed up, the event has exceeded initial expectations. Organizers hope this will become an annual tradition that strengthens community ties. ‘The impact goes beyond the projects themselves,’ said Rotary Club President David Burton. ‘This type of event helps build connection and pride and hopefully momentum toward future service.’
Encouraging Acts of Kindness
Participants are encouraged to engage in acts of kindness within their neighborhoods, even beyond the formally organized events. This initiative aligns with the Rotary Club’s mission to make a local impact and foster a sense of community.
Donations collected during the event will be distributed equally among the Republic Community Kitchen, the Republic Youth Sports Equipment Library, and other expenses related to the Day of Service. Interested volunteers can view and register for projects or make donations at RepMoRotary.org.
