The National Weather Service has issued a dust storm advisory for Eddy County in southeastern New Mexico and northeastern Culberson County in southwestern Texas. The advisory is in effect until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, as a significant wall of dust moves through the area.

At approximately 5:54 p.m., the dust was observed along a line extending from 19 miles northeast of Loving, to near Malaga, and 24 miles west of Orla, moving northwest at a speed of 30 mph. This has led to hazardous travel conditions, particularly affecting U.S. Routes 285 and 62/180.
With visibility significantly reduced, drivers are advised to be cautious. If caught in dense blowing dust, it is recommended to pull off the road, turn off vehicle lights, and keep a foot on the brake to avoid accidents.

The dust storm is impacting several locations including Carlsbad, Artesia, Hope, Loving, Avalon, Seven Rivers Airport, Malaga, Brantley Lake State Park, Carlsbad North, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Whites City, Lincoln National Forest, Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Queen, Artesia Municipal Airport, Otis, Cavern City Air Terminal, Living Desert State Park, Dayton, and Lakewood.
