Rescue Operation at Kirkham Hot Springs After 20-Foot Fall

In a challenging rescue operation, a person was airlifted from Kirkham Hot Springs in Lowman, Idaho, after experiencing a fall of approximately 20 feet. The incident, described as a medical trauma by officials, occurred late Friday evening.

Local Response and Collaboration

The Lowman Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) was the first to respond to the scene, assisting Elmore County Emergency Dispatch. The patient was located in a largely inaccessible area of the hot springs, which made the rescue operation particularly difficult. Upon hearing the radio traffic, members of Crew 2 from the Idaho City Hotshots joined the effort, bringing additional resources to the scene.

Multiple vehicles were deployed to aid in the rescue, demonstrating a strong community response to the emergency. The coordinated efforts of the LVFD and the Idaho City Hotshots were crucial in safely extracting the patient from the hot springs.

Medical Transportation

Once the patient was secured, they were transferred to Air St. Luke’s for medical transportation. This swift action ensured that the individual received the necessary medical attention promptly.

The incident highlights the importance of local emergency services and their ability to respond effectively to crises, even in remote locations. The collaboration between different rescue teams underscores the community’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors.
