I-280 in Toledo to Close for Overnight Inspection Work

Residents of Toledo should prepare for overnight road closures as the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) conducts survey inspection work on I-280. The closure will affect the stretch of I-280 between east Toledo and I-75, including the Veterans Glass City Skyway Bridge over the Maumee River.

Details of the Closure

The closure is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, with the Front Street and Greenbelt Parkway on ramps and exit ramps to and from the expressway shutting down first. Following this, at 8 p.m., additional on ramp closures will occur at Manhattan Avenue to south I-280, Starr Avenue to north I-280, and Ottawa River Road to south I-75.

By 11 p.m., the ramps to I-280 from I-75 will also be closed, and all other traffic will be forced off this section of the highway. ODOT has planned for the work to be completed and the expressway to be reopened by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, minimizing disruption to morning commuters.

Community Impact

While the closure is temporary, it is important for local residents and commuters to plan alternative routes to avoid delays. The inspection work is a necessary part of maintaining the safety and integrity of the roadway infrastructure, which is crucial for the daily lives of Toledo’s citizens.

ODOT’s efforts to conduct these inspections overnight demonstrate a commitment to minimizing the impact on daytime traffic, ensuring that the community can continue its daily activities with minimal interruption.
