Juarez Resident Safely Surrenders Rifle with Police Escort

In Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, a local resident took a significant step towards community safety by voluntarily surrendering his semi-automatic rifle. The Municipal Public Security Secretariat officers, stationed at the South District Police Station, played a crucial role in ensuring the safe transport of the firearm to the Weapon Exchange Center.

The incident unfolded when the 58-year-old citizen contacted the emergency line, requesting assistance to transport his firearm to the weapon exchange module. Responding promptly, a police unit arrived at the intersection of Manuel J. Clouthier Avenue and Hiedra Street in the Juárez Nuevo neighborhood. The individual, who was waiting inside his vehicle, expressed his desire to surrender a 7.62 x 54 caliber rifle voluntarily.

Officers provided the necessary security and escort services, accompanying the man to the exchange center located at the intersection of Septiembre Avenue and Ignacio Mariscal Street in the city center. Upon arrival, personnel from the Secretariat of the Interior and the Secretariat of National Defense took possession of the firearm.

This action is part of the “Yes to Disarmament, Yes to Peace” program, which aims to reduce the risks associated with firearm possession and promote community safety. The Municipal Public Security Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with preventive programs that encourage citizen participation in these efforts.
